Good in all three of the following units, Unit 41, unit 42, and unit 421.

Lots of public land in the unit is made up of the Gunnison West Elk National Forest and also includes BLM and the Bureau of National Reclamation. Mule deer hunting in this famous portion of the state offers deer hunters a high success rate, a wide variety of topography. big variations in vegetation and some trophy bucks up to 175″ and the occasional 190″ deer killed across the seasons.

These Colorado 2nd season unit-wide tags can be used to hunt all of the public lands in GMU unit 421, 42, and area 41 of CO.

Deer hunters with the purchase of this tag can hunt over 930 square miles of public ground in Colorado unit 42, unit 421, and unit 41. Composed of almostĀ  600,000 acres of public hunting area that allows you to tromp around for mile after mile chasing trophy mule deer. These 3 combined areas have vast elevation changes from 5,000 feet to over 11,000 feet and go from fairly easy to very difficult for the tougher hunters wanting to escape the sea of orange vest.Ā

This Colorado hunting unit group includes portions of the White River National Forest and the West end of the Grand Mesa National Forest. Some areas are closed to motorized vehicle traffic allowing hunters to get far away from the crowds. Hunters often purchase over-the-counter elk tags and this area has a better success rate for elk than most of the other Colorado OTC GMU’s.
