During the late summer and early fall seasons, bucks will be easier to find throughout the entire unit. As the later seasons arrive, larger mature bucks will more than likely be heading to Witcher Mountain and along Cap Rock Ridge in the western portion of unit 581. Due to the hunting pressure in surrounding units and the onset of snow and cold weather at higher elevations, more bulls will show up in unit 581 later in the season. Keep in mind that the size of the bulls can grow dramatically with each passing week and sometimes even days. Check out the Dome Rock and Sheep Rock near the eastern edge late in the season as well as the Witcher Mountain and Cap Rock Ridge in the western portion.

Most of the land in unit 581 is private with some BLM land so try to secure permission months before your hunt. There is a smaller concentration of bucks near Colorado Route 9 north of U.S. Highway 50. Quality and quantity of antelope bucks makes this a hard unit to draw. The migration of bulls depends on inclement weather at higher elevations.
