If there is winter range migration, it is usually during the 3rd season. There are trophy bucks, however they tend to have tall versus wide antlers. Hunt the brush-covered areas and high elevations early in the season. Elk are scattered throughout Unit 100. Large, 300+ size bull elk are common. Only 9 miles east of Dinosaur via US-40ocated approximately 9 miles east of Dinosaur via US-40, Blue Mountain is a recommended hunting location for elk, but be prepared for rough terrain.

The Green River Campground has been renovated to provide at most sites water and electric hookups. These hookups are available at an additional cost. Modern restrooms are available with showers. The highly eroded Split Mountain towers to the north of this campground which runs along the banks of the Green River in Jensen, Utah. The campground is located 30-miles from Dinosaur, Colorado via US-40 W and UT-149. Split Mountain Campground includes four group sites that accommodate both tents and recreational vehicles. There is a minimum group size of 8 people and a maximum group size of 25 people per site. Up to six vehicles are allowed. No water, sewer or electric hookups are available at the campground. Water and flush toilets are available from April to late October depending on weather.
