The elevation in unit 22 ranges from 9,000-10,650 feet. There are steep rock cliffs throughout this unit. The lower country consists of grassy flats and ridges. The desert-like areas in this unit are primarily private land and are mainly located in the south of the unit.

The vegetation in unit 22 consists of many things. In the mid to high elevations, you will see spruces, firs, ponderosa pines, junipers, and pinyon forests. In the lower elevations, you will start to see more oak brush and scattered junipers and pinyons.
