The lower elevations of unit 24 consist of flat desert-like grassland with some brush and trees. The middle elevations mostly have junipers, scrub oak brush, and pinyon pines. Higher elevations consist of ponderosa pines, Gambel oaks, mountain mahoganies, and oak brush.

Unit 24 has two main highways running through it. Highway 15 runs throughout the north of this unit while Highway 35 runs through other parts of this unit. We highly recommend a four-wheel-drive vehicle and when allowed ATVs are a good source of traveling.
