The vegetation in unit 22 consists of many things. In the mid to high elevations, you will see spruces, firs, ponderosa pines, junipers, and pinyon forests. In the lower elevations, you will start to see more oak brush and scattered junipers and pinyons.

There are three main roads leading into unit 22. In the eastern part of this unit you will find U.S. 180. State Route 174 is located in the northwest corner of this unit. In the northeast section of this unit is State Route 193.
