The reason is that in thousands of acres of vast Dryland is this oasis of private land with a river and alfalfa and other farm crops. The perfect place for a DIY Muzzleloader hunt with these being the only hunter on the ranch! The heat of the summer drives the deer to the water. The Colorado Mule Deer Season is in mid-September when the daytime temperatures can be 80 degrees with cool nights. Lodging is available but extra. This makes the river bottom and the alfalfa field’s home for small herds of bachelor bucks just being lazy in their summer mode and easy to patter. Unless you don’t know how to shoot a muzzleloader this is a 100% opportunity and a 99% harvest hunt. This is truly a deer hunter’s dream hunt that has never been offered before, and due to the difficulty in getting licenses for this area may or may not be available again. Looking at the vast area in GMU003 this private ranch has sub irrigated river bottom producing a large amount of deer on this ranch. The land owner will only allow a small group on the ranch at a time through the season so that it is a good experience. Please make your reservations early for the full choice of dates during the season dates. It takes 3 points to draw the license so the landowner Vouchers are available at some times. The voucher and the DIY Hunt access on the 5000 acre ranch for 5 days is $ 1500 reduced down to only $ 995 per person no matter if they have a buck or a doe license. The lodging is in Craig and provided for 2 people at a total of $89.95 per night for 2 people or you can stay anywhere in Craig or Baggs Wyoming. The property is about 30 miles north of Craig. The Colorado Muzzleloader season is usually around September 8-16, 2012; this is a 5 day hunt. Meat processing is available in Craig along with taxidermy and lodging.
